How safe is it to skydive into the eye of a hurricane?
Question by Certified Storm Spotter SKYWARN: How safe is it to skydive into the eye of a hurricane?
I want to skydive in the eye of a hurricane to see and record what the clouds and everything else including atmospheric conditions are like in the eye of the storm. Is it possible to be blown to the eye wall? The eye has little or no wind so is it really possible to be blown to the eye wall? How?
The eye is the weakest part, the eye wall is the strongest. I’m trying to figure out the possibility of me being off course and inadvertently being blown to the eye wall.
I plan on landing on the ground, not the ocean.

It probable isn’t the safest because it has high winds and that is the strongest part of the storm, that would be such a good idea.

I’m a storm chaser but I’m only 17. Is there an age limit to skydive?
I like chasing all storms. I’d like to see and film what the eye of a hurricane looks like from up in the sky. I like to see cloud characterestics of the storm.

actually, the eye is the safest part to be in a hurricane, so I’d say yes…go for it. You just don’t want to try it on the outside, or edge of the hurricane. You should be perfectly safe otherwise.
