Climbing helmets lack several useful features, such as:
* not designed to be used with goggles
* generally don´t cover the ears (for warmth)
* don´t cover the back of the head as fully
* no adjustable ventilation
A climbing helmet is designed to protect you from falling pebbles… not the kind of thing you wear a helmet for on the slopes.

My friends told me to get a helmet because this is my first year and I have no idea what to get. My mom started laughing when I told her I wanted to wear a helmet skiing, so I need some help.

ummm yea ur mom was incorrect. u very smart to wear one! many huge head injuries occur while skiing because of not wearing a helmet!!
